Description

Take your snow days to the next level! Uncover detailed stats (and bragging rights) about your days skiing and snowboarding, ride with friends, log your memories, and replay your winter adventures together. Get the best ski tracking experience on iPhone and Apple Watch!

SMART RECORDING

Select your activity, and Slopes will figure out everything in the background (even what resort you're at, assuming you have cell reception). You can choose from ski, snowboard, monoski, sitski, telemark, and more. Slopes will automatically detect uphill, lifts, and runs for you all day long.

FIND YOUR FRIENDS ON THE MOUNTAIN

With live location on the recording screen, you can easily find each other! Location sharing is privacy-focused; you can always turn it on and off.

INTERACTIVE RESORT MAPS (Premium)—Available for 2000+ resorts in the US, Canada, the European Alps, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan.

Navigate resorts with ease in 2D or 3D. See which run you or your friends are on and where to go next. Find any trail, lift, the bathroom, and more. On many North American resorts, we now show on-mountain facilities such as bathrooms, food, and, most importantly, ski patrol locations, even in free mode.

TRIP PLANNING & CONDITIONS

Plan upcoming trips and invite your friends to them to share in the hype. Trips let you keep tabs on resort conditions, who's coming or not, and who else was invited, all in one central place. Before you head up the mountain, check what other riders say about a resort's snow quality. While on the mountain, location sharing will automatically work with everyone on the trip - even the participants not on your friend list in Slopes.

DETAILED STATISTICS

Uncover a wealth of information about your performance, speed, vertical, run times, and more. Find out how good you are and how you're getting even better, season-over-season.

FITNESS + APPLE WATCH

See how you're pushing yourself with live heart-rate data, close your activity rings in Apple Health, and with Slopes Premium, you can check vitals and fitness insights for every twist and turn.

PRIVACY-FOCUSED

Slopes never sells your data, and features are designed with privacy and safety in mind. Accounts are optional, and you can Sign-in with Apple.

Note: GPS is required, so Slopes will not work indoors. iPads and iPods will not be able to record with Slopes. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. Factors like temperature, battery health, and other apps running in the background will affect battery performance.

What’s New

Version 2025.1

- Offline trail maps are back and better then ever!

- The new system not only saves the paper trail maps for offline use, but also Slopes's interactive trail maps and all their searchable trail data.

- Slopes now periodically checks for updates to maps in the background, so you're up-to-date throughout the season.

- One note: offline maps are limited to Slopes Premium *subscribers*. The UX the old offline system had with Day Passes was ... messy ... and we wanted to keep this simple.

- Fun fact: this is Kirby's first major feature shipped since joining Slopes in November. Everyone say "Thanks, Kirby!"

- If you record via iPhone and use a heart rate monitor that supports the Bluetooth Heart Rate Profile which is set to stream live to Apple Health, Slopes will now show HR data while you record. This includes your min/max HR for the last 10 minutes & zone breakdowns live per run.

- In addition to changes in ranks, leaderboards will now highlight increases in stats too, letting you can keep up with who is getting out there even if their rank doesn't change.

- Ties on leaderboards are now much easier to spot.

- We keep trying to fix a bug where the leaderboards don't redraw to show a change in day count, and think we got it this time. Third time is a charm?

- Fixed a case where a Day Pass would auto-activate but not activate Slopes Premium unless you force-quit and re-opened Slopes (only happened if you had used a Day Pass the day before, too).

- Fixed a case where the Live Activity wouldn't show if you hadn't launched Slopes on your phone recently before starting a workout on your watch.

- Fixed two crashes caused by data race conditions (they just appeared "random" to y'all).

- Fixed (we hope) a case where the pause button might not show on the recording screen.

- Fixed some smaller resorts not showing details like known base / summit altitude.

- Fixed the logbook not removing your path & photos from the map after closing a past recording day.

- It wouldn't be a new year without catching and fixing at least one typo made by Curtis.

Undisputed Best Mountain App

I started using this app in 2018. I can’t compare it to other mountain apps, but I still wouldn’t switch regardless. It works perfectly with your watch or phone. The best way to review this is to tell you how it works on a typical snow day. 1. I arrive at the lift and open the “Slopes” app on my Apple Watch 2. It automatically knows what mountain you are on, so you just select your activity: —— Downhill: snowboard / skis / telemark skis / monoski /sitski / snowbike / other. —— Backcountry: skis / snowboard / splitboard / other —— Other Winter Sports 3. The app will start tracking your session, and you can put your phone away or cover your watch in your sleeve for the rest of your day. Optional Lunch: If you want to take lunch, open the app on your phone/watch and hit the pause button for a specified time or manually resume it. 4. At the end of the day, you tap the checkered flag, and it will load all your stats for the day. Stats: - # of Runs - Total Vertical - Total Time - Total Distance - Average Speed - Top Speed - Tallest Run - Peak Altitude - Longest Run Extra: if you connect your watch, it tracks your health. - Average BPM on runs - Max BPM - KCAL burned 5. Go home after your trip and open the app to see All Lifetime Stats. You will see the best scores for each category out of all your days on the mountain. BEST APP FOR THE MOUNTAIN

Works on my iPhone 6 again!

At the start of the ski season, I tried to use Slopes, but iOS had offloaded it since I hadn’t used it during the off-season. I couldn’t get it to download again and after several tries, finally discovered that it now only works on iOS 13 and up. The developer claims you can keep using the old version, but if you have to reinstall, you can’t get the old one back. Now switching to a competitor that still supports iOS 12. As a developer myself, it’s generally a good idea to support at least the previous iOS version.

Update: After the developer contacted me, I was able to reinstall an older version of the app. Apple did not make this easy to find. I added two more stars due to the developer’s prompt response. However, I would still like to see support for at least one iOS version back for new updates. Most apps I checked still support back to iOS 10.

Update 2: The developer supports iOS 12 again! Greatly appreciated and definitely noticed performance improvements and less battery drain. Thanks again for making this change!

Developer Response ,

Hey Starkiller, you can totally still use it with the 6 (since you previously downloaded it)! Apple just doesn't make that 100% clear how. In the App Store go to the Updates tab, and you'll see the "Purchased" option at the top. Hit that and find Slopes in the list. Apple lets you download older versions of apps as long as the developer approves it. I made sure to keep a version around for people on 12. I've got ya covered.

Update: I went ahead and put in a lot of work to retrofit iOS 12 support into Slopes, meeting your request to support one version older of iOS. Hope you enjoy all the new goodies!
